In the 1950s, when the predominant fashion was somewhat restricting, Marimekko started making liberating dresses in abstract patterns in vibrant colours for women who were bold in expressing their personality through their attire. Marimekko designers could sense the pulse of the moment – their clothing design was a source of enchantment and provocation worldwide.

Over the years, Marimekko's anti-fashion became not only fashion but also a way of living. Marimekko is considered one of the first lifestyle brands to combine fashion, handbags and accessories, and home decor, into an expression of joyful living.

Marimekko pop-up café

The first branch is located in the Central Embassy retail area and offers food, snacks, and drinks. The inside of the Marimekko pop-up café is furnished in a Scandinavian style with Unikko flower pattern or poppy pattern, which is the Marimekko brand's distinctive motif with a collection of dinnerware and home decor used to serve food to customers.
